Description

This sticker was created during the 2020 Covid lockdown as part of the Souvenir Workshop held by the Graphic Design department in Kassel. The task was to design a souvenir that captured the essence of that unusual summer.
Water is normally central to how I relax — swimming, being outdoors, and letting real waves wash away everyday stress. But during the pandemic, that kind of escape was largely out of reach. Instead, much of my time went into simulating digital water for an animation project. The sticker plays on this contrast: bright, idyllic beach imagery is layered and fragmented, revealing its artificial construction.
The angular, digital-style lettering reinforces this tension. Its message — “Virtuelles Wasser spült meine Sorgen nicht weg!” (“Virtual water doesn’t wash my worries away!”) — becomes a clear reflection of the gap between virtual experiences and real emotional relief during lockdown. The result is a small but honest souvenir of a summer defined more by screens than by shorelines.
